After graduating from the University of Southern California with a degree in Political Science, Shannon Burkhead moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she briefly worked as a stock analyst for a hedge fund downtown. Quickly realizing that the law was her passion, she chose to attend the University of Illinois where she earned her Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) and her Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA). She graduated from both programs with honors.
Throughout law school, Shannon spent her summers in Ketchikan, Alaska, where she first worked for the public defender’s office and then worked for a private firm in town. Her unique educational and professional background provides her with the ability to analyze each case from all angles.
After finishing graduate school, she took the Oregon and California bar exams back-to-back and currently maintains active licenses to practice law in both states.
Since living in the San Francisco Bay Area, Shannon has focused on practicing residential landlord-tenant law throughout the Bay Area. She first worked for a small firm which exclusively represented landlords on all of their landlord-tenant issues. In 2015, she opened her own law practice, where she continues to counsel her clients on all matters within landlord-tenant law, including unlawful detainers/evictions, mediations, settlement conferences, and general rent board/rent ordinance issues. In 2018, Shannon joined McLaughlin Sanchez LLP as Of Counsel and litigates with the partners and associates in the firm with their real estate matters, including landlord-tenant cases, HOA disputes, and real property transactions.
In her down-time, she enjoys cooking, camping, scuba diving, and spending time with her friends, family, and cat.
